2 California deputies injured on the job in Merced County

Two Merced County law enforcement officers were injured on the job recently. A California man is facing felony charges after allegedly assaulting the two officers who were injured on the job. The incident occurred as the two officers were responding to an emergency situation reported by the defendant's family.

The defendant is believed to have been under the influence of drugs when he burst into the home of a family member. Law enforcement was called to handle the situation, and when police arrived, the man reportedly fought with an officer as he was being arrested. Another California officer was also injured but only suffered minor injuries.

The first deputy who was injured suffered a concussion. Further details of his condition are not known at this time, but he likely missed a certain amount of work due to needed recovery time. While neither his nor the other officer's injuries were life threatening, they are each still likely entitled to workers' compensation benefits. When an individual is injured on the job, financial recovery is typically awarded to cover medical expenses and a portion of lost wages.

Workers' compensation is designed to assist those who have been injured on the job. This area of law frequently changes, and while filing a claim may seem simple,  a claim can be denied or an individual may not get all of the available benefits. A legal professional experienced in the area of workers' compensation can evaluate the circumstances of a case and help in filing and presenting a claim geared toward achieving all appropriate compensation.
