San Francisco worker suffers fatal on-the-job injury

After the recent work-related death of a San Francisco man, it was learned that the employer has been fined for many safety violations in the past. The California worker suffered a fatal on-the-job injury after the aerial lift he was in was crushed by a concrete beam. The safety violations and fines have come over the course of the past decade.

The employer, a rental equipment company, was previously fined for multiple workplace accidents and safety complaints. In 2008, a worker suffered a serious injury to his leg after an accident with tractor-trailer bed. In 2011, another worker was pinned between a truck and a light tower, and weeks later, another worker suffered serious injury in an accident with a cherry picker.

Representatives from the company have not made any statements regarding the latest incident, but the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is currently investigating the accident. Even though the investigation is still open, the family members of the deceased have the right to move forward with a workers' compensation claim. In California, when a person is killed in a work accident, dependants and family members left behind have a rightful claim to certain benefits and financial support.

The workers' compensation system is unfortunately complex, and it may be difficult for claimants to get the money that they need. By working with an experienced lawyer, a grieving family can know that their rights and best interests are protected during a difficult time. Whether a work accident results in death or on-the-job injury, victims have the right to legal help and a full explanation of their options.
