Company could have done more to prevent workplace injuries

A California company is facing repercussions after an investigation revealed the presence of safety hazards in the facility. These hazards and a lack of safety protocols resulted in workplace injuries over the course of several years. In four years, from 2010 to 2014, there were 15 instances in which workers were sprayed with sulfuric acid.

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, preventative investigations and safety measures should have been enacted to protect workers from unnecessary harm. In fact, some of the workers who were sprayed with sulphuric acid were not provided needed safety equipment. This was despite the fact that the company identified this as a problem in a previous safety inspection.

Employers have the responsibility to protect employees by providing a work environment that is as safe as reasonably possible. Employees should also be provided with needed safety gear, and they have the right to medical treatment and wage benefits if they are injured due to a work accident or work-related hazards. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to obtain needed benefits, and it may be necessary to secure the help of an experienced attorney.

When a California employee suffers from workplace injuries, it is important to take the appropriate steps to claim the benefits that are needed. By seeking legal assistance, an individual has a higher chance of a successful claim if a lawyer handles the initial claim and any needed appeals. A case evaluation may be necessary to determine what legal options are available according to the details of the individual situation.
