2 construction workers seriously injured in West Sacramento

California construction workers know they face a serious risk of injury on the job site, but construction workers still go out every day and face those risks. That is why workers' compensation is an integral part of the construction industry, and employees who have been injured on the job need to be aware of the best ways to navigate the workers' compensation system.

Two workers seriously injured in West Sacramento will need to be aware of their workers' compensation options. The men were working on a PG&E project in the early-morning hours before sunrise when a steel support beam fell and struck one man's head and the other's leg.

According to a news report, the work crew was lowering heavy steel beams into place when the chain that was binding the beams broke. Cal/OSHA and PG&E inspectors showed up to investigate why the chain snapped and the other circumstances surrounding the accident.

The men's injuries were not thought to be life-threatening, but the injuries were characterized as critical. The workers were taken to a hospital to be treated.

Work stopped on the site, and the other crew members were understandably solemn after the accident.

Unfortunately, and despite how serious a worker's injuries may be, receiving the full measure of benefits under California's workers' compensation system can prove frustratingly difficult for injured employees. It is often necessary to seek legal assistance in filing a claim and ensuring that all costs related to the work injury are covered.

These costs could range from compensation for disfigurement to reimbursement for transportation back and forth from a doctor's office. To learn more about what to do after a construction accident, California workers are encouraged to visit our San Jose work injury site.
