4 construction workers may be eligible for workers’ compensation

| Jun 18, 2014 | Construction Workers' Accidents |

An accident can happen at any time. This is true whether California residents are driving on the road or working at a job. In most cases, there are options for individuals to receive financial compensation with a lawsuit, such as a car accident or surgical error. When a worker is injured on the job, he or she has the right to obtain workers’ compensation benefits to help recover from an injury.

At a construction site in California, four workers were recently injured. Apparently, they had been working on a Carl’s Jr. restaurant. The fast food restaurant was under new construction at the time of the accident.

The accident happened when a truss fell on top of the workers. Two of the four workers suffered minor injuries. The other two workers were moderately injured.

It is not clear at this time whether the workers were subcontractors or were direct employees of the construction company that was in charge of the construction. However, the fast food restaurant had not been under construction for long. In fact, it was in some of its earliest stages with only wooden framework having been constructed thus far.

Unfortunately, the exact cause of the accident is unclear. However, the workers who were injured all have rights to workers’ compensation benefits. These benefits can help the injured workers receive the necessary medical care and treatment that they need in addition to financial help until they are able to return to work. Applying for benefits can be complex. For that reason, one may be interested in seeking out assistance to ensure that the application is filled out properly and that they receive full and fair benefits.
