Man injured on the job and killed after trash truck accident

A California man was injured on the job and died from his injuries after he was run over by a trash truck. He was employed by the Department of Public Works in San Francisco as part of an agreement with the state in order to receive welfare benefits. The man was injured on the job by a fellow employee as they were on their normal trash collecting route.

This particular work crew was made up of two regular Department of Public Works (DPW) employees and two men who were working as a condition of receiving welfare. At the time of the accident, the trash truck was driven by a California man who is a regular DPW employee. The victim was run over after he slipped while standing in front of the truck.

This tragic accident is currently under investigation by the DPW, Cal/OSHA and the San Francisco Police Department. While it is not clear exactly what factors led to the accident, the driver was tested to determine if he was under the influence of any drugs or alcohol. Despite his welfare status, his family could be eligible for death benefits through workers' compensation insurance.

Workers' compensation benefits are typically applicable when an employee is killed or injured on the job. The benefits are designated to cover the cost of medical bills and lost wages, as well as end-of-life expenses in the event of a fatal accident. It appears clear that the deceased victim was killed while working, and his family may find it useful to seek professional assistance in order to fully understand their right to file a workers' compensation claim due to the unexpected death of their loved one.
