Family may look into workers' compensation after California death

Many deaths take place every year due to work-related accidents. However, each death is equally unfortunate, and in some cases, a death may potentially have been preventable. Either way, a family who has lost a loved one while the victim was on the job could potentially face financial difficulties. As a result, exploring workers' compensation benefits may be a prudent step.

The family of a California worker may be learning more about workers' compensation after the worker died while on the job. It was reported that the man was on a boat with other workers as they were going about their maintenance duties. The workers were attempting to clear weeds from a lake on a golf course when the man fell into the water. The man was reported as being 45 years old.

The worker unfortunately drowned after falling into the water. Other workers had attempted to rescue him by jumping into the lake, but they were unable to locate him. A team working for the sheriff's department later recovered the worker's body. Cal/OSHA is investigating the situation, and at this time, representatives for the administration are uncertain whether the worker was wearing a life vest or other safety preserver.

It is regrettable that the workplace accident resulted in the death of a California worker. The family of the man is likely feeling much sadness over the loss of their loved one. They may also have to contend with financial struggles due to the loss of income that will come about due to the man's death. However, they may be able to qualify for workers' compensation benefits due to the outcome of the fatal on-the-job incident.
