Woman dies in on-the-job injury at trucking company

Trucking is an important industry for the United States economy. This is how many products eventually reach the marketplace in order to fulfill needs of consumers in California as well as every other state. However, this industry also comes with various inherent dangers that could cause an on-the-job injury.

Unfortunately, this seems to have been what happened recently to an employee of a trucking and shipping company. The incident occurred early in the morning in late October. A 22-year-old worker ended up being killed due to injuries suffered to her head and neck. Apparently, a forklift had somehow malfunctioned and caused the deadly workplace accident.

Emergency personnel responded to the call just prior to 6 a.m. at AAA Cooper Transportation. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is currently investigating the matter in order to determine if there were any safety violations that may have played a role in causing the fatal accident. As of the latest reports, OSHA has not revealed any violations in its ongoing investigation. Also, the trucking company has yet to release a statement regarding the accident.

If the employer is found to have violated any workplace safety rules, OSHA could impose significant punishment on the company in the form of monetary fines. However, whether there were any violations, the family of the decedent may be able to obtain death benefits via workers' compensation. This option may be available for anybody who is injured or has lost a loved one due to an on-the-job injury in California or in any other state.
