Fatal on-the-job injury for California tree trimmer

In a recent tragic work accident, a California tree trimmer fell from a tree to his death. The fatal on-the-job injury occurred as he fell while he was working to cut away trees from power lines. In addition to his employer, Wright Tree Service, the coroner's office and Pacific Gas and Electric Company are also investigating this unfortunate incident.

A representative from his employer stated that the company is currently unable to determine how the accident occurred. The 26-year-old man leaves behind a wife and other family members. He sustained blunt force trauma to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Although the cause of the accident is not known, Wright Tree Service has been inspected 22 times by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration since 2010.

When California workers are required to work from heights, such as tree trimming or construction, proper safety measures must be taken. Safety harnesses, proper training and working in pairs are just some of the ways that employers can protect the well-being of their employees. The family of the deceased may seek to understand what happened to their loved one as well as seek death benefits through workers' compensation.

No amount of money can undo the damage suffered by a victim and family after a serious on-the-job injury or fatal accident. However, death benefits could be granted to assist a grieving California family during the difficult time after an unexpected loss. These benefits are designated to cover funeral expenses, medical bills and even a portion of lost wages of the deceased.
