Man trimming trees suffers workplace injuries with wood chipper

Certain jobs in San Jose and throughout Northern California require that employees operate heavy and potentially dangerous equipment. While this work is often necessary and the workers and their employers will be conscientious about training and maintenance of equipment, accidents are inevitable. These can lead to workplace injuries and fatalities. After these accidents happen, it is essential that the injured person and his or her family understand the importance of workers' compensation and how it may help provide financial relief.

A worker may need to understand the process after he was injured in recent workplace accident. According to reports, the worker, who was operating a wood chipper as he and his company trimmed trees, was injured and hospitalized. The accident happened at around 1 p.m. The man, 24, and two other workers were taking a tree down and using ropes for the high branches. The man was responsible for putting the branches into the wood chipper. After that was done, the intent was to repave parts of the neighborhood.

According to the investigation, the man became tangled and was pulled toward the wood chipper. He had the ropes around his neck and was deprived of oxygen. The injured man has young kids. He is in critical condition after the accident on the job. The OSHA is investigating the accident.

With this kind of accident where significant injuries are suffered, it is imperative to properly assess how to move forward physically, emotionally, and financially. Workers' compensation can provide financial relief, as it is often essential in assisting a family with paying medical expenses and recouping lost wages. In some cases, an insurer will have questions about the accident and getting paid can be complex. Having legal help with the case from an attorney is often imperative from the time of the accident throughout the investigation and as the workers' compensation claim is examined.
